The convention rose and the Senate withdrew.

Pursuant to notice given yesterday, Mr. French had leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act for altering the times of holding a term of the Court of Common Pleas in the counties of Cheshire and Sullivan, and for altering the times of holding certain terms of the court of Probate at Newport in the county of Sullivan.

Ordered, That it lie on the table.

A message by the Secretary of State

"Mr. Speaker-I am directed to introduce to the House of Representatives, Ziba Alden, who has been duly qualified as a representative from the town of Lebanon, Levi Chamberlain, who has been duly qualified as a representative from the town of Fittzwilliam, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the removal of Joseph Brigham from this State, and Samuel Burns, who has been elected as a representative from the town of Rumney, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Edward Webber who has been appointed Judge of Probate for the county of Grafton.

Messrs. Alden, Chamberlain and Burns, appeared and took their

seats.

And then the House adjourned.

FRIDAY, Nov. 23, 1832.

Mr. Gove of Acworth, appeared and took his seat.

Mr. Wentworth of Sandwich, presented the petition of Samuel Ambrose and others, for the incorporation of the first Free-will Baptist Society in Sandwich.

Mr. Sanborn presented the petition of Eleazer Gove and others, for the incorporation of the Wentworth Mechanicks' Association. Mr. Boynton presented the petition of Jeremiah Eames and others, for the incorporation of Colebrook Academy.

Ordered, That they be referred to the committee on Incorpo

rations.

Mr. Wiggin presented the remonstrance of the inhabitants of Epsom, against the petition of James Martin and others, to have a part of Epsom annexed to the town of Pembroke.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Towns and Parishes.

Mr. Tuttle presented the petition of Israel Bartlett and others, in relation to the petition of William Claggett and others, for a bridge across Furber's Ferry.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on the Judiciary. Mr. Barnes presented the account of French and Brown.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Printers' Ac

counts.

Mr. Graves from the joint committee appointed to nominate a Chaplain, made a report accompanied with the following resolution.

Resolved, By the Senate and House of Representatives, in General Court convened, That the Rev. Samuel Kelley of Concord, officiate as Chaplain to the Legislature during the present session. Which was read.

Resolved, That it pass.

Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

On motion of Mr. French-

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled "An act to alter the times of holding a term of the Court of Common Pleas in the counties of Cheshire and Sullivan, and for altering the terms of holding certain terms of the court of Probate, at Newport in the county of Sullivan.

On motion of Mr. French-

Ordered, That it be referred to a select committee to consist of five members.

Ordered, That Messrs. French, Chamberlain, Allen, Chase of Goshen, and Bisco, be the committec.

On motion of Mr. Sanborn-

Resolved, That a committee of one from each county be ap-pointed with instructions to report the number of members from the several counties, who shall constitute the committee to receive and examine the inventories of the several towns in this State for the purpose of reporting a new proportion of public taxes.

Ordered, That Messrs. Waldron, Towle of Lee, Harvey of Sutton, Stevens, Harrington, Corbin, Wilcox, and Lang of Milan, be the committee.

A message from the Senate by their Clerk-

"Mr. Speaker--The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of a resolution appointing the Rev. Sainuel Kelley, Chaplain to the Legislature during the present session." The Speaker laid before the House the following Report of the Secretary of State.

In compliance with a resolution of June 12, 1832, requiring that the Secretary of State be directed to report to this House a list of all the special Acts and resolutions authorizing any town in this State to send a Representative to the General Court, noting the time of their enactment, also a list of all acts and resolutions classing towns for the purpose of sending a representative to the Gen

eral Court, noting the time of their passage. I hereby submit the following:

That, having examined the files in the office, I find the following acts and resolutions, classing towns for the purpose of choosing a representative to the General Court:

Resolved, That a committee of five be appointed to consider and report what measures it is necessary to adopt as an expression of our feelings with regard to the death of Charles Carroll, the last of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and as an expression of our regard for the memory of so distinguished a patri

ot.

Ordered, That Messrs Collins, Shaw, Sawyer, of Swanzey, Wilcox and Hayes, be the committee.

On motion by Mr. Tuttle-

Resolved, That the committee consisting of one from each county have leave to sit during the Session of the House.

And then the House adjourned.

AFTERNOON.

On motion of Mr. Peaslee-

Resolved, That a committee be appointed on the part of the House to be joined by the Senate to wait upon the Rev. Mr. Kelly, and inform him of his appointment as Chaplain for the present session of the Legislature, and that they will be ready to attend Prayers in the Representative's Hall, at ten minutes before ten o'clock in the forenoon on each day of the Session.

Ordered, That Messrs. Peaslee, Crosby, of Groton, and Blenden, be the committee.

Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

On motion of Mr. Wilson of Keene-

Resolved, That the House are now ready to meet the Senate in convention to proceed in the consideration of the returns of votes for the choice of Electors of President and Vice-President of the United States.

Ordered, That the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.
