Mr. Ingalls of Shelburn presented the petition of Oliver B. Howe and others, for the incorporation of a social library in Shelburn.

Ordered, That they be referred to the committee on Incorporations. Mr. Dow presented the petition of Nathaniel Batchelder and others for a law for the protection of tin ware.

Mr. Rogers presented the petition of Joshua Gitchell and others, for the passage of a law for the protection of tin ware.

Mr. Fellows of Gilmanton presented the petition of William Badger and others, for the incorporation of the Gilmanton Village Manufacturing Company.

Mr. Murray presented the petition of Henry C. Wetherby and others, for the incorporation of a Savings Bank in Newmarket.

Mr. Wentworth of Sandwich presented the petition of J. L. Quimby' and others, for a law to restrain Hawkers and Pedlers.

Mr. Ingalls of Shelburn presented the petition of Daniel Davis and others, for a bounty for the destruction of bears and wild cats.

Ordered, That they be referred to the committee on the Judiciary.. Mr. Orne presented the petition of John Cotton, that a part of his farm may be disannexed from Sandwich and annexed to Moultonborough.

Ordered, that it be referred to the committee on Towns and Parishes. A message from the Governor by the Secretary of State.

On motion of Mr. Page of Gilmanton-

Resolved, That the committee on agriculture and manufactures be instructed to inquire into the expediency of allowing a premium for killing crows, and that they report by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Wilcox from the joint committee appointed to prepare and report joint rules for the government of both branches of the legislature during the present year, made a report, whereupon

Resolved, That the joint rules of the Senate and House of Representatives for the last year be adopted as the joint rules of both branches of the legislature for the present year.

Mr. Wild introduced the following resolution.

Resolved, That a committee be appointed on the part of the House to join such as the Senate may appoint, to procure three hundred printed copies of the rules of the Senate and the rules of the House of Representatives, together with the joint rules of both branches of the legislature, and the constitution of this State and the constitution of the United States, the names and boarding places of the several members of the legislature and its officers, with a list of the standing committees of both branches for the use of the legislature the present year. Which was read.

On motion of Mr. Sanborn

Ordered, That it lie on the table.

A message from the Senate by their Clerk.

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of a resolution appointing a committee to wait on the Rev. Mr. Kelly and inform him of his appointment as Chaplain during the present session, and have on their part joined Mr. Knowlton.

Also in the passsage of a resolution appointing a committee to assign the committee rooms to the several standing committees and have on their part joined Mr. Woodbury."

On motion of Mr. Rogers

Resolved, That a select committee be appointed to consider the expediency of altering and improving the seats in the Representatives' Hall, in the State House, and that they report by bill or otherwise.

Ordered, That Messrs. Rogers, Page of Gilmanton and Tenney be the committee.

Mr. Murray gave notice that on Monday next he should ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to extend to the town of Newmarket the acts establishing a system of police in the town of Portsmouth, and for other purposes.'

Mr. Grannis gave notice that he should to-morrow ask leave to introduce a bill for the incorporation of the Claremont Manufacturing Company, and also a bill for the incorporation of the Union Manufacturing Company.

Resolved, That the House are now ready to meet the Senate in convention to proceed in the elections agreeably to the provisions of the constitution. Ordered, that the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.

By leave of the House, Mr. Harvey from the committee appointed

to report rules for the government of the House the present year, reported the present rules of the House with an amendment.

Mr. Coues gave notice that he should to-morrow ask leave to introduce the following bills-"An act to incorporate sundry persons by the name of the Portsmouth Whaling Company."

"An act in addition to an act entitled an act to incorporate sundry persons by the name of the Rockingham Bank.”

The House resumed the consideration of the resolution authorizing the appointment of a joint committee to procure the printing of the rules of the House.
