A message from the Senate by their Clerk.`

"Mr. Speaker--The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of the following bills, resolutions and address.

"An act authorizing chairmen of committees of either branch of the legislature, or of joint committees to swear witnesses."

"An act for holding a Court of Probate in Chester in the county of Rockingham."

A resolution appropriating fifteen hundred dollars for the education of deaf and dumb.

A resolution appropriating four thousand dollars for erecting a new State Prison.

An address for the removal of certain officers.

The Senate have indefinitely postponed an address for the removal of an officer.

Mr. French, from the committee on Engrossed Bills, introduced the following resolution.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened, That the sum of twenty three dollars be allowed John Whipple for engrossing all the public acts and resolutions at this session, and in full of his account, and that said sum be paid out of the treasury.

Which was read three several times.

Resolved, That it pass.

Ordered, That the clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of the following bills and resolutions.

"An act making further provisions for laying out highways." "An act to alter the names of certain persons."

A resolution appropriating five hundred dollars for contingent expenses.

A resolution granting one copy of the revised statutes to the town of Carroll.

A resolution in favour of Bradbury Bartlett and others.

They concur with the House in the passage of a bill entitled “An act for the return of inventories," with certain amendments."

The House proceeded to the consideration of the amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill entitled "An act for the return of inventories.'

Which amendments were severally read and agreed to.

Ordered, That the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.

Mr. Gregg, from the committee on Claims, to whom was referred the account of Jacob Tyler, reported a bill entitled "An act in favour of Jacob Tyler."

Which was read three several times.

Resolved that it pass, and that its title be as aforesaid.

Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

Mr. Kent introduced a resolution in relation to the purchasing a tract of land for the use of the State Prison.

Which was read a first and second time.

On motion of Mr. French

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on Bills on their Second Reading.

Mr. French, from the committee on Engrossed Bills, reported that they have presented to His Excellency the Governor all the bills and resolutions which they last reported as correctly engrossed.

Mr. Kimball, from the committee on Bills on their Second Reading, to whom was referred the resolution for the purchase of a tract of land for the use of the State Prison, reported the same in a new draft, as follows:

Whereas the Warden of the State Prison has purchased for the accommodation of that institution a certain parcel of land lying on the west side of State street in Concord, bounded as follows, viz. beginning at the northeast corner of the State Prison lot, thence extending northerly on said State street fifty six feet, thence westerly by James Buswell's land eighteen rods, thence southerly fifty six feet to the said State Prison lot, thence easterly by the said Prison lot to the place begun at; it being all the land recently conveyed by the said James Buswell to Joseph Clifford and whereas it is necessary that the State should own said land, Therefore

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened, That the Treasurer of this State, upon receiving an absolute and valid conveyance to the State of New-Hampshire of the land aforesaid, be directed to pay to the Warden of the State Prison,

out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two hundred and fifty-five dollars in full consideration for said land and for all charges incident to the purchase and conveyance of the

same.

Which was read three several times.

Resolved, That it pass.

Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

On motion of Mr. Graves

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled "An act to sever a tract of land from Andover and anex the same to Franklin."

On motion of Mr. Hale

Resolved, That the further consideration of said bill be postponed to the next session of the legislature.

On motion of Mr. Clement of Sandbornton

The House resumed the consideration of the resolution authorizing the improvement of the seats in the Representatives' Hall.

Mr. Clement moved, that the further consideration of said rosolution be indefinitely postponed.

"Mr. Speaker--The Senate have unanimously concurred with the House of Representatives in the passage of the seven resolutions relating to the powers of the General Government as it regards internal improvement, the tariff, the public lands, and the distribution of the surplus revenue.

On motion of Mr. French

Resolved, That when the House adjourn they adjourn to meet tomorrow morning at 4 o'clock.

Mr. Harvey of Sutton, from the select committee to whom was referred sundry resolutions of the legislatures of the States of Virginia, Missouri, Georgia, Ohio, Alabama, Louisiana, Missisippi, Vermont, Maine, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts and South Carolina, by leave of the House, made a report, whereupon

Resolved, That the further consideration of said resolutions be postponed to the next session of the Legislature.

Mr. Harvey, from the committee on the Judiciary who were directed to enquire as to the expediency of repealing the laws in relation to the office of Tythingmen, made a report, whereupon

Resolved, That the further consideration of that subject be postponed to the next session of the Legislature.

And then the House adjourned.
