Resolved, That the bill entitled "An act giving further remedies in equity," be postponed to the next session of the legislature.

Mr. Handerson, from the committee on the Judiciary to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act authorizing the sheriffs of the several counties in this Stase to remove prisoners in the county gaols, reported the same without amendment.

Mr. Whittemore, from the comittee on Incorporations, to whom was referred the bill entitled, "An act to incorporate the Boston and Ontario Rail Road Company," reported the same with amendments. On motion by Mr. Handerson

The bill entitled "An act in addition to an act entitled an act for laying out highways with the amendments proposed by the Judiciar committee was taken up and considered.

On the question, Will the Senate agree to the amendment, viz : Strike out the second section of the bill, and insert in lieu thereof the following section, viz.

Section 2. And be it further enacted, That the costs of laying out highways, and of widening and straightening existing highways within any town, shall be paid by such town, except such part thereof as the court of Common Pleas may order paid by the County in which said road lies."

It was determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Drown, from the committee on Engrossed Bills, reported that they had examined and found correctly engrossed, bills with the following titles, viz :

"An act to incorporate the Union Manufacturing Company."

"An act to incorporate the Claremont Manufacturing Company."

"An act in addition to an act entitled an act to incorporate sundry persons by the name of the Rockingham Bank, approved November 5, 1813."

"An act providing for the compensation of the officers of the civil

list."

"An act in addition to, and in amendment of an act directing the return of statements every year from the several incorporated banks in this State, to His Excellency the Governor and the Council, passed June 21, 1814."

"An act to sever certain ranges and lots of land from the town of Stratford and annex the same to the town of Piercy."

"An act in amendment of an act to establish a corporation by the name of the Hopkinton Academy, approved June 26, 1827."

"An act in addition to an act entitled an act to incorporate sundry persons by the name of the Piscataqua Bank."

Met according to adjournment.

A message from the House of Representatives by their Clerk. "Mr. President-The House of Representatives have concurred with the Senate in their amendments to the bill entitled "An act supplementary to an act entitled an act in addition to an act passed Jan. 3, 1795, entitled an act to incorporate certain persons and their associates into a proprietary by the name of the New-Hampshire Hotel and Portsmouth Pier."

They have also passed an address for the removal of certain officers of the militia, in which they request the concurrence of the Senate. The Speaker of the House of Representatives having signed the eight bills last reported to have been engrossed, I am directed to bring them to the Senate for the signature of their President."

And he withdrew.

The President of the Senste having signed the eight bills last presented for his signature, they were delivered to the committee on Engrossed Bills, to be laid before the Governor.

The address for the removal of certain officers of the militia, was read a first and second time.

Ordered, That the same be referred to the committee on Military Affairs.

The bill entitled "An act in addition to an act entitled an act for laying out highways," as amended, was read a third time.

Resolved, That it pass, with an amendment.

Ordered, That the Clerk notify the House of Representatives_ accordingly.

Mr. Jackson, from the select committee to whom was referred the resolution authorizing an alteration in the seats of the Representatives' Hall, reported the same with an amendment.

On the question, Will the Senate agree to the amendment proposed by the committee, viz: Add to the said resolution the following words :

"Provided, that the sum to be expended in such alteration does not exceed eight hundred dollars.”

It was determined in the affirmative.
