Causal Schemata and the Attribution Process

This essay develops the idea that attributions and causal inferences, particularly those made on the basis of partial information, are derived from causal schemata after specifying the general properties of causal schemata, this paper reviews the relevant social psychological literature for what it has to say about the types of schemata likely to be found in the typical attributor's repertoire delineate these potentialities of a causal schematic analysis of the attribution process as well as to indicate some of its major limitations causual schemata and the attribution process.
